Sunport Ambassador Program

like helping people in the world of travel?

If you do, the Albuquerque International Sunport has an exciting volunteer opportunity for you as an Ambassador! Ambassadors meet travelers with welcoming smiles and direct them to flight gates, bag claim, rental car shuttle buses, and other Airport facilities. Ambassadors provide assistance in a friendly, timely, and courteous manner that promotes a more enjoyable experience for all of our airport passengers. In addition, several Ambassadors bring their certified therapy dogs, known as the ABQ K-9 Crew to the Sunport to help relieve the stress of the traveling public.

meet the members of the ABQ K9 Crew!

The ABQ K9 Crew is a group of volunteer dog handlers and certified therapy dogs that regularly visit the Sunport to help alleviate the stress and anxiety of travelers and simply brighten days of those passing through. The crew ranges in both breed and size, are 100% friendly and loveable, and the public is invited to interact and pet the dogs for their enjoyment! Dogs wear bright yellow “PET ME” vests and handlers carry trading cards with fun facts about their dog – we challenge you to collect them all!

If you are interested in volunteering with your certified therapy dog (or would like information on how to become certified), please send an email to Doug Lutz, Sunport Volunteer Coordinator, at dlutz@cabq.gov.
