Opening of local favorite and other recent additions celebrated

ALBUQUERQUE — Sadie’s, one of New Mexico’s most iconic and beloved restaurants, opened its doors today at the Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ), where travelers can now savor a true taste of home right in the terminal. The opening was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking not only the arrival of Sadie’s but also the continued rollout of new regionally rooted dining options as part of ABQ’s “Dream of Flight” once-in-a-generation terminal renovation.

From house-favorite enchiladas to legendary stuffed sopapillas, Sadie’s new Sunport location, operated by locally based Fresquez Concessions, brings the bold flavors locals love and visitors seek directly to Albuquerque’s front porch, offering travelers an authentic New Mexican dining experience.

“Sadie’s is a New Mexico staple and a point of pride for Albuquerque,” said Mayor Keller. “Having them at the Sunport means visitors can experience our city’s culture the moment they arrive — and locals can enjoy a familiar favorite before they take off.”

For more than 70 years Sadie’s has been a local favorite, known for bold New Mexican flavors, comforting dishes, and warm Southwestern hospitality. What began in the 1950s as a small family-run restaurant founded by Sadie Koury has grown into a New Mexican institution that continues to honor its roots through fresh ingredients, timeless family recipes, and a welcoming spirit.

“Bringing Sadie’s to the Sunport is a perfect example of how we’re showcasing the best of the Land of Enchantment,” said Acting Aviation Director Manny Manriquez. “This family-owned restaurant represents the culture, hospitality, and flavors that make our community so special.”

Still family-owned and community-focused, Sadie’s continues to serve generations of locals and visitors alike, reflecting the same welcoming atmosphere and homey cuisine that have made the restaurant a favorite for decades.

The ribbon-cutting also celebrated several other new and recently opened concessions at the Sunport including Cheese & Coffee, Rush of Prana, Teller Bar, New Mexico Piñon Coffee, and Steel Bender Brewyard — all operated by Fresquez. To view photos of the event, click here.
