Southwest Airlines Resumes Daily Non-stop Service from Albuquerque to Kansas City, MO

ALBUQUERQUE –Southwest Airlines recently released its flight schedule through July 10, 2023. The announcement includes increased service for several routes and resuming weekday, non-stop service between Kansas City, MO and the Land of Enchantment as the Albuquerque International Sunport continues to gain momentum amidst our recovery from the impacts of COVID-19. With the return of this service, the Sunport is set to regain one of only two routes that had not yet resumed since being postponed during the pandemic. The Sunport will now offer 26 non-stop flights to destinations throughout the country.

Beginning April 11, 2023, Southwest will add non-stop service between Kansas City and the Sunport, Monday through Friday, adding Sunday service starting in June, for a total of six flights weekly to the heart of America. In addition to bringing back Kansas City, Southwest is increasing service to other markets, including:

  • Houston, TX (Hobby) – Increasing to three flights per day
  • Las Vegas, NV and Phoenix, AZ – Increasing to five flights per day
  • Los Angeles and San Diego, CA – Returning to two flights per day

“We’re greatly encouraged by Southwest’s extended schedule, as it reflects the state of our industry and the tireless efforts of our air service development team,” said Richard McCurley, Director of Aviation for the City of Albuquerque. “Over the past two years, we’ve focused our efforts on a strong comeback and will continue to work with our airline partners to bring additional flight operations to the Sunport and our community.”

With Southwest’s expanded schedule, the airline’s daily operations will exceed pre-pandemic levels, increasing from 30 weekday flights per day to 32. Tickets are available for purchase at southwest.com.
