Sunport Launches New Business Website

Officials to host free webinar for small business operators on Dec. 16

ALBUQUERQUE –Ahead of its highly-anticipated “Dream of Flight: Sunport Reimagined” renovation project, the Albuquerque International Sunport has launched a new, state-of-the-art business website designed to educate businesses on the process of operating at the Sunport.

With the Aviation Department’s role as a key stakeholder and economic driver in the city and state, the new “Sunport Doing Business” website (abqsunportbiz.com) reinforces its efforts to work hand-in-hand with its various partners, tenants and the local business community. The website’s clean design and user-friendly interface provide a smooth online experience and the site will continue to be enhanced with additional functionality and featured content based on user feedback and future assessments. It features information on:

  • The Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) program and upcoming terminal renovation project
  • Advertising Opportunities at the Sunport
  • Airline Programs
  • Albuquerque’s Foreign Trade Zone

“We created this new website to support the business community, from airline partners to private industry, as we continue to enhance our business development toolbox,” said Manny Manriquez, Sunport Innovation and Commercial Development Manager. “This strengthens our efforts to be productive business partners in the run up to major work on the Dream of Flight terminal renovation project.”

The Dream of Flight project will be carried out concurrently with a concessions redevelopment and associated Request for Proposals (RFP) for the new concessions program. Expected to be released in early 2023, the RFP will allow parties interested in operating shops and restaurants in the terminal to submit proposals for consideration. A key metric for considering proposals is ACDBE participation in the program.

“The ACDBE program is one of our most important assets in support of collaboration between the Sunport and small, disadvantaged and local businesses,” said Richard McCurley, Director of Aviation for the City of Albuquerque. “The forthcoming outreach on this program is an exciting step in the process, and we hope to energize the New Mexican business community by engaging them on this opportunity.”

The Sunport will be hosting a free, 30-minute ACDBE webinar on Friday, December 16 at 10:00am MT. The session will provide an overview of the ACDBE program, the certification requirements, and how to initiate the process of becoming a certified ACDBE with the state of New Mexico Department of Transportation. Participants may access the webinar here.
