Sunport Welcomes Contour Airlines as New Partner on Carlsbad Route
Enhanced air service supports business, tourism, and seamless global connections
ALBUQUERQUE — The Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ) today celebrated the launch of daily nonstop service between Albuquerque and Carlsbad, operated by Contour Airlines. The service to Cavern City Airport (CNM) began yesterday, March 1, 2026, and continues vital in-state connectivity while introducing a new airline partner to the Sunport.
Contour Airlines will operate a 30-seat regional jet on the route, offering passengers extra legroom, complimentary snacks and beverages, and one free checked bag with every fare.
“This partnership strengthens Albuquerque’s role as a key transportation and economic hub for New Mexico,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “Maintaining strong connections within our state supports local businesses, creates opportunity for residents, and makes it easier to fully experience the Land of Enchantment.”
The alliance marks the first time the Sunport has worked with Contour Airlines, further strengthening air service options for communities across the state. Southeastern New Mexico travelers will continue to benefit from seamless access to ABQ’s network of nonstop destinations.
“This is about strengthening an important regional connection while enhancing the passenger experience,” said Aviation Acting Director Manny Manriquez. “Welcoming Contour Airlines expands our airline partnerships and ensures travelers between Albuquerque and Carlsbad continue to have dependable, high-quality service.”
Through Contour’s interline agreements with major U.S. carriers, passengers traveling between Carlsbad and ABQ can connect easily at ABQ to destinations nationwide and around the world on a single itinerary.
“We’re excited to partner with the Sunport to continue serving Carlsbad and southeastern New Mexico,” said President of Contour Airlines Ben Munson. “This service reflects our commitment to providing underserved communities with reliable, comfortable air travel, along with convenient access to major airline networks.”
