Crews repaving Sunport Loop through Nov. 20

ALBUQUERQUE  —  Travelers visiting Albuquerque for the busy holiday season will soon enjoy smoother roads around the Albuquerque International Sunport. Albuquerque Asphalt has begun repaving the Sunport Loop, the main roadway that serves passengers at the terminal. The work includes resurfacing from I-25 eastbound, through the terminal loop and back to University Blvd. The Sunport received $1.9M from the Airport Infrastructure Grant Program which is part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

“This road is one of the first that people see when they visit Albuquerque, and now it’ll give the kind of first impression we want,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “Repaving this stretch of Sunport, and any other road, is driven by data that helps us make sure key routes get the right attention when they need it.”

This Sunport Loop is a short stretch of road but experiences a high volume of daily traffic and was due for rehabilitation. Crews expect to complete the project by Nov. 20, just in time for the busy holiday travel rush.

“Repaving the roadways along Sunport Boulevard is a key investment in both the customer experience and the long-term infrastructure of the Sunport,” said Manny Manriquez, Acting Director of Aviation. We appreciate the community’s patience as we complete these improvements, which will help us better serve New Mexico for many years to come.”
