Sunport Welcomes Trio of New Shops Showcasing Local Flair
Globo Mercado, Nob Hill Necessities, and Roadrunner Express now open as part of Sunport’s “Dream of Flight” terminal transformation
ALBUQUERQUE — The Albuquerque International Sunport celebrated the grand opening of three new stores — Globo Mercado, Nob Hill Necessities, and Roadrunner Express — with a festive ribbon-cutting ceremony today. Each reflects Albuquerque’s unique neighborhoods and landmarks while providing a modern, traveler-friendly experience. All feature locally made products and beloved New Mexico brands.
- Globo Mercado– A lively travel convenience store inspired by the brilliant Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, offering grab-and-go essentials and local treats.
- Nob Hill Necessities– A thoughtfully designed kiosk exuding the electric charm of Albuquerque’s iconic Nob Hill neighborhood.
- Roadrunner Express– A modern convenience hub featuring daily staffed service (4:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.) for travelers seeking quick, easy access to snacks, beverages, and travel essentials.
“These new shops reflect the heart of Albuquerque — bright, creative and welcoming,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “We love seeing the Sunport continue to grow in ways that celebrate our culture while enhancing the travel experience for everyone who passes through.”
The addition of the new retail concepts by WHSmith North America, which include local vendors such as Mata G vegetarian kitchen and New Mexico Ferments Kombucha, underscores the Sunport’s continued focus on innovation, local partnerships, and improving the passenger journey.
“We’re thrilled to join the Sunport’s enhanced concessions program with these new retail stores,” said Roderick McOwan, Chief Development Officer of WHSmith North America. “We want each shop to feel like a unique retail experience, and we’re proud to work with partners across the city to bring that to life. We look forward to further enhancing the retail program over the coming months alongside our local and experienced business partners.”
“We’re offering our travelers more choice and convenience than ever before,” said Aviation Acting Director Manny Manriquez. “Each of these ventures ties directly into our Dream of Flight vision — blending local authenticity with innovative design to make the Sunport an even more enjoyable gateway to our city.”
