Concessionaire’s Operating Handbook

The City of Albuquerque Aviation Department is committed to maintaining high standards of customer service, safety, cleanliness, and facility maintenance at the Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ). The Concessions Handbook provides essential rules, requirements, and operating guidelines for doing business at the Sunport.

This Handbook is a general resource and may be updated at any time. In the event of a conflict, the terms of a concessionaire’s lease and agreement will govern. The most current version will be available on the Sunport’s website.

All concessionaires, tenants, contractors, vendors, and their employees must comply with all applicable rules and regulations while on Sunport property. A current copy of the Handbook must be accessible at each concession location.

Tenant Design Criteria

The Tenant Design Criteria (TDC) document establishes a clear framework to guide tenants through the design and construction process. Its purpose is to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment with the Department’s standards while supporting efficient project delivery.

The TDC is designed to:

  • Provide clear and comprehensive guidance for design and construction requirements
  • Encourage creativity and innovative design solutions within established guidelines
  • Clarify processes for coordination, communication, and interaction with the Department

By balancing structure with flexibility, the TDC supports tenants in developing spaces that meet operational needs while contributing to a cohesive and high-quality environment.

Lounge Design Criteria Supplement 

This supplement outlines lounge-specific design requirements that complement the ABQ Tenant Design Criteria (TDC). All provisions of the current TDC and applicable Sunport handbooks remain in effect unless this document establishes more specific requirements for lounge spaces.

In the event of a conflict, applicable codes shall take precedence. The current TDC, relevant handbooks, lease documents, and determinations by the Airport Design Review Committee (ADRC) will govern all design and construction decisions.

Tenants are encouraged to seek written clarification from the Department when needed. Any deviations from these standards must be formally reviewed and approved through an ADRC-approved variance process.
