sunport gardens

The hundreds of new plants added to the Sunport indoor landscape were carefully selected for their colors, textures, sizes, and whether they were adaptable to the Sunport’s interior growing conditions. An effort was made to include plant types and shapes that would evoke Albuquerque’s own native vegetation and garden design traditions. The design responds to the different spaces within the Sunport by adding color and variety in more active areas and taller plantings where separation and privacy are desirable. Including the plantings was important to the designers of the project because interior plants are demonstrated to improve air quality and reduce stress and promote relaxation.
